Admissions Policy and Procedure (Summary)

Brigidine School is a non-selective, independent day school, educating approximately 250 pupils from Pre-Nursery to the Sixth Form.

Our Junior School educates the younger pupils: girls from 2 to 11 years and boys from 2-7 years.

The main points for entry into the school are at age 2 into Pre-Nursery, age 3 into Nursery, age 9 into Year 5, age 11 into Year 7, age 13 into Year 9 and age 16 into Sixth Form. Admission to other year groups is dependent on there being vacancies.

Applicants will be considered as candidates for admission to the school following an interview with the parents by the Headmistress, followed by the receipt of the completed Registration Form and non-refundable registration fee, currently £25.

For entry into the Senior School, parents must send in a completed Registration Form by 10th January of the year of entry.

Admission into the Junior School is subject to the availability of a place and to the candidate attending a Taster Day. A written report is requested from their current school, if any.

Admission into the Senior School at Year 7 is subject to a short interview with the Headmistress and completion of assessment papers in Maths, English and Reasoning at the Senior Entry Assessment Day held each January prior to September entry.  A written report is requested from their current school.

Girls attending Brigidine School have automatic entry to the Senior School at Year 7, subject to their meeting the required standard of performance in Years 5 & 6, and attendance at the Senior Entry Assessment Day.

Admission into Years 8 to 10 is subject to the availability of a place, to the candidate spending a Taster Day and completing assessment papers in Maths, English and Science.  A written report is requested from their current school.

Admission to the Sixth Form depends on the GCSE results taken in subjects to be studied at A level, a reference from the previous school and an interview.

Admission to the school is subject to the Standard Terms and Conditions current at the time and to any reasonable amendments made to them from time to time.

Academic Scholarships and means-tested Bursaries are available at Year 1 upwards.

There are also Scholarships available in Art, Drama, Music and PE at Year 7 entry and Sixth Form entry.

The Acceptance Deposit of £500 is payable when parents return the Acceptance Form to the School. £450 is refunded (less any outstanding charges) on leaving, or credited if a full term's fee in lieu of notice is paid.
