Brigidine School Windsor was founded in Windsor in 1948 by The Sisters of Saint Brigid who came over from Tullow, County Carlow, Ireland. The school is now run by an independent charitable trust.
The Brigidine Sisters are known world-wide for their passionate belief in the fair and just status of women and their ability to make a positive difference. The ethos of The Brigidine Sisters remains in our school as the sisters now work on projects throughout the world.
The heart of the School is Queensmead, a charismatic red-bricked Victorian mansion with period fittings, original stained glass, tapestries and other features of outstanding architectural and design interest, set in attractive grounds in Windsor, on the edge of Windsor Great Park.
As a School we are responsive and supportive and able to provide children with an excellent broad and balanced education from the age of 2 to 7 years for boys and continuing to 18 years for girls.
As part of the GSA (Girls' School Association) we specialise in girls' education for students over the age of 7. Current research on both sides of the Atlantic is proving how girls flourish in single sex education enabling the best possible results to be achieved.
At Brigidine School Windsor we personalise the curriculum for individual students. This emphasis on the individual allows students to achieve enormous Value Added in their public examinations. In recent examinations, many students achieved 2 grades higher than had been predicted by National Baseline Assessments. Our intake of students is comprehensive; our pupils range from Oxbridge scholars to those who need a little more nurturing and support. Our aim is to enable all students to achieve at least 5 A* to C grades at GCSE and many achieve a majority of A*s and A grades.
Along with the academic work we offer an extensive extra-curricular programme ranging from music, sports, drama and dance, to name but a few. We also offer before and after school provision.
We currently operate a bus service from Hillingdon and The Chalfonts and we have plans to extend the routes to Staines, Wokingham, Bracknell and Ascot.
Our pupils have self-confidence and a self-belief that prepares them for their life ahead. We give students the skills to adapt to our ever changing world. At Brigidine School Windsor we will provide children with the fortitude and skills to make their mark on the world.
I hope to welcome you to Brigidine School Windsor in the near future.
Elizabeth Robinson, Headmistress
